Tape isn’t HD, and neither are DVD’s, so is the only way to buy a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray burner? I just want quality like I see when I watch tv shows in HD. Help please!

I’m in the market for a new camcorder and i noticed at stores like best buy and circuit city prices are dropping ridiculously low for HD camcorders. Anybody have one that they can share their experience with? I’d like one, but do i need a super computer to edit HD sized video? I’m on a 2 gig vista laptop

Even if I record in 1080i, how would I be able to retain that quality if I plan to edit and burn videos to DVD. Don’t I need to burn Bluray DVD’s to retain 1080i? If I don’t have a Bluray burner, then isn’t it a waste of money to get HD camcorder?

I am looking at the sony, samsung, panasonic, canon, or JVC HD camcorder lines and wonder if they(or which ones don’t) work with a UStream video stream.

Sounds like High Def camcorders and recording directly to hard drives take forever to process and frames are lost, therefore still and slow motion quality is sacrificed? Is this correct? Thanks
